Community Watch Emergency Services Festival
The Palmerston Residents Association have been engaged in working for the good of the community in the Sydenham area, giving the community a voice and staging community events in conjunction with various agencies. All our work is voluntary and carried out on a non profit basis.
We have seen our emergency services in recent years come under attack from within communities. We feel that public awareness is vital in educating all age groups on how the emergency services work and the necessity for vital support from all communities.
We are in the process of staging a community event in Belfast that will help to re-address the balance for our emergency services. We would like at this point to offer you a place in the coming event, we would intend this event to run every year we see this as an opportunity for Emergency Services to raise funds, give career advice and to demonstrate how your service works for the good of all communities.
Everyday various emergency services look after our community, this event will allow you to demonstrate the work carried out by the emergency services but not just the emergency services we see day to day, but the small specialised services such as mountain and motorsport rescue, who are largely doing work unrecognised.
Palmerston residents association envisage gaining sponsorships and grant-aid to cover the staging of this event. Discussions have already begun with Strandtown PSNI and we intend to approach Belfast City Council, as our intention would be in staging the event at Inverary playing fields or Victoria Park in Sydenham, early communications have been very positive.
